Default Salary on different lines

Hi All,

Just wandering if any fellow cruise workers would be willing to "swap stories" with regards to salaries of the different lines. From my experince so far the smaller lines pay more than the bigger ones. But how about the small lines owned by the big companies such as Azamara & Seabourne?

Anyone with any insight into this willing to share please let me know!
:-)
Thanks.
J

Let me start from myself.

I used to work with HAL and I debarked from Oosterdam in 2007.

Waiter around $2200
Asst.Waiter around $1800
Assistant Lido Steward (Buffet waiter) $600 (entry position)

Most of Dining Staff are from Indonesia.

Now I'm waiting my schedule to Oceania Cruises. Anybody who knows salary as Asst.Waiter, please share and I would greatly appreciate it!

Note that Seabiz's numbers are not exactly Salary - but earnings from tips.
HAL's tipped employees - like the tipped employees on most cruise lines - are actually paid around US$1 per day PLUS tips.
Those tips will vary dramatically, based on the crewmember's skills, ship itinerary, and passenger demographics.

Default Princess - Computer Officer

Ok,

What I'm really keen to know (if anyone out there knows) is if the smaller "brands" owned by the big two - such as Seaboourne / Azamara pay the same as the larger "brands" owned by the same companies or if they run independantly & therefore salaries may differ?

I'm not asking for specific figures if people do not wish to give out that information :-)
That said, I can tell you that the starting salary for a computer officer on Princess (2008 figure) was $2250. Went up by $300 on 2nd contract but didn't stick around after that although I think it tops out about 3k.
Cheers.

Default sharing benefits us all!

I see nothing wrong with sharing information, I actually believe it is beneficial.

I started as a seasonal Youth counselor back in 2006 in NCL. Starting salary was 1k plus tips. Not much in tips though. Once you finish your first contract you can come back as a permanent and your salary goes to 1,200.00. Next contract is 1,550.00 and it tops at 1,800.00 US. Salary of the supervisor is only 200 dollars more: $2,000.00

Not sure what the situation is like now.

Also, I know as shorex you could start at 1,700.00 This depends on how you negotiate your contract. It can go up to $2,000.00 and there was even one shorex staff that was making $2,600.00, same as a shorex assitant manager.

I believe the shorex manager was at $3,800.00 plus comission.

After your first contract you can try to negotiate in some positions. Then again, once you are on the ship, make sure you keep your salary to yourself... those in the same position as you making little less could become very resentful...

PS, also, at RC a Youth Counselor starts at 1,550, but I understand that's tops. And at Disney they start at 1,800.00.

Question Need help!! Interested to join a cruiseline as clerk

Hi guys,

I need your help, especially those who have working experience in cruise line.
I have submit my application to 4 different cruise line as Junior Clerk/Accounting last monday.

The cruise line that I've applied for are Carnival, HAL, RCCL and Disney.

Should all of them accept me as a new hire, which one should I choose , actually I've kinda regret my decision to apply in more than one liner, but since my dream is working an office job on board luxurious ocean liner I am curious to find which one is the best work place.

My question to you guys are:
1. Which one is the better for career path?
2. How much is the salary range for the position that I've applied for and how long is the contract that I will get? Are they negotiable like land based jobs?

Thank you all.
