Hi everyone,
I just returned from a N-S voyage (Whittier to Vancouver)on the Diamond Princess on Saturday. Early in the week we had nasty weather 20ft seas and 90mph winds and as a result the captain cancelled the last port of call, Ketchican due to safety reasons. He told us the Holland America ship in the area was also going to not dock in Ketchican for the same reasons. I was wondering if anyone heard about the rouge wave that hit the ship the day before the storm? A lot of people saw it out the window of the verizon court at around 11:30 am and said it was about 25-30 feet. It was sort of far off in the distance from the accounts of people I spoke with, but I was looking for more info on it. I thought rouge waves were very rare? I can't believe I was on the ship and missed it. Someone from the bridge called a code A-T, but I have no idea if that was connected to the weather. If anyone has any info, I'd love to hear it. Thanks.
