Your neighbors may heartily discourage it.

"...there isn't much problem anymore with smokers on cruises."

There is a reason for that. There aren't many smokers left.

We just cancelled our HAL Cruise for next year because of smoking. Just not willing to take a chance of having our 20th wedding anniversary cruise ruined by surrounding smokers.

I don't seem to know anyone who smokes anymore.
But having next door smokers on a ship puts a damper on enjoying a relaxing time on a balcony.

Holland America is one of the few lines that still allows smoking on the balcony. I don't know any major line that allows smoking inside the cabin.

Take care,
Mike

I have been on recent cruises where the cabin upon entering on day #1 smelled from cigarettes.

I guess the people who were in your cabin before you didn't obey the rules. I hope you complained. There hasn't been smoking in the rooms since January, 2012.

If your cruises were before January 2012 then it was to be expected. My wife hates the smell of cigarette smoke and, even when it was allowed, we never had a cabin that smelled like smoke.

Take care,
Mike
