Question Square Mouth vs. Insure My Trip

I have seen insure trip.com suggested as a good search engine for travel insurance. I heard a recommendation for square mouth.com. Is anybody familiar with them. I would assume they both operate under the same principle. Is that true?

All I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by; John Masefield

They are both good for researching travel insurance.

However, four things you should be aware of;

1) NEVER buy through those websites - best to book through your agent. If you're not using an agent, which is not advisable, then purchase directly from the insurance company.

2) NEVER go by price alone. As Warren Buffet said, "Price is what you pay. Value is what you get." And best price is usually not the best deal or the best value. Make sure you read the coverage limits and pay special attention to what is covered as you want to make sure it'll cover your specific needs.

3) NEVER assume big name means best policy. We use to sell travel insurance for 5 different companies. We fired 3 of them because of the lousy customer service they provided our clients when claims needed to be filed. And two of these companies were among the biggest names in the industry. The true test of a company is in the service they provide when needed.

4) NEVER purchase travel protection - always make sure you're purchasing travel insurance. There's a big difference in the two and not knowing about it can end up costing you big time!

Talk with your travel agent about travel insurance - they normally have contracts with vendors they trust and have experience with.
