Visiting Cozumel in March aboard Oasis of the Seas. I'm interested in purchasing a guitar while on this cruise. Does anyone have any thoughts? Prices in Cozumel compared to the states? Stores? Inventory? Any help would be appreciated.

I have no idea about buying guitars in these ports, but before you go, price them in your neck of the woods so you have something to compare to. Also, when in Cozumel be sure to know the difference in US dollars, they sometimes try to pull a fast on on you. There are times, when you can purchase items cheaper right at home....just make sure you will be getting a good deal, etc.

Here is a link to an article that recomends a store called:
Instrumentales Musicales Here is the link: Cozumel Cruiser Shopping Tips As a guitar player myself I would counsel caution. I have owned several guitars and IMHO it really doesn't make any sense to buy a cheap guitar if you are going to play the thing on a somewhat regular basis. Even a beginner really needs a somewhat decent guitar. |

There is a site called locogringo that has a forum section like this. There are lots of folks who live/work in the area that can help.

Don't forget that you have to bring the guitar home too so you might have added expenses $$$$$

Thanks to everyone that took time to answer my question. I have visited the recommended link to the store and plan to make the trip there. I must admit that once informed that I was planning to drag a guitar along on the cruise, my wife ...., well, I'm lucky to still be walking.
I did purchase an older Yamaha fg-75 with the intention of taking it along, but still undecided if it's worth the effort to drag it along. Perhaps I'll take a week vacation from playing too. |

Good idea, I think taking it along, expecially if you are flying would be a huge hassle...
