Why do you say it was not worth it. Was the ship nice?

We've done this three times on the EOS, with a fourth trip scheduled for this August. Yes, it's short, but it is lots of fun, and takes me to one of my favorite places on Earth. I have a full review with pix if you click on my siggy over on CC under "MrPete".

Bermuda is beautiful but I have heard the Atlantic can be rough sailing. Bring the Bonine.

We are doing this cruise for the second time in August.

It is a beautiful ship and a great cruise altogether. Bermuda is beautiful! Can't wait to go back on Explorer and to Bermuda.

We've done it twice on Voyager and once on Explorer - had a great time on every trip. Sure another day in Bermuda would be nice, but it's a good reason to do it again. It's a lovely island with wonderful people.

Actually, on one trip we were told that we would be sailing home through part of a hurricane (this was in September), so we went to bed that night expecting rough seas - never felt a thing.

If you wait until 2010, Holland America will be sailing the Veendam out of NY to Bermuda, 7 nights, with port calls at both St George & Hamilton. Having cruised to Bermuda multiple times (Song of America twice, Zenith twice, and one time each on Norwegian Crown, Empress of the Seas, Explorer of the Seas) IMHO the 7 night itinerary stopping at Hamilton & St George is far superior to the 5 nighter that calls only at Kings Wharf.

Hi Irishgirl,

We are taking the same cruise on June 25th. Our first one out of NJ. I have heard positive reviews about this cruise. This will be our first trip to Bermuda. Just wondering what's the best excursion/activity is for a day in Bermuda.

I have taken that exact curise and it was one of my favorites. Yes it was a short cruise but since you stay in ports alot, you seem to have more time. We rented the scooters and kept them overnight. You can park them right outside the ship and hop on the next morning. We just took our time and went from beach to beach. When we left one port and entered the other, we did the same thing.
You'll have a blast on the scooters but remember they drive on the other side of the street and they drive like locals; fast and faster!!!!!

We went on the Explorer last year to Bermuda out of New Jersey and we had a great time on the ship and in port. We did the Segway tour on the first day and had a lot of fun.The second day we went to the caves they have there can't remember the name of them but if was really cool. We took the bus to get there. You can get a day long bus pass at the port. It was fairly cheap $10 or so not sure but it was worth it. After that we went to a pink sand beach which was beautiful. We have a great time on the Explorer.
