Default Princess Fleet

About two years ago, P&O Princess Cruises Plc. (http://www.poprindess.com), the former British parent of Princess Cruises, announced plans to transfer MV Regal Princess to start-up sister line A'Rosa in the German market in the spring of 2004. I have not seen a formal announcement of a change to this plan, but it's obvoius that the planned transfer is either postponed or cancelled by the recent announcement from Princess Cruises of a schedule for this vessel beyond the planned transfer date -- "Alaska/Canada" RT from San Francisco in the summer of 2004 (http://www.princess.com/news/article...rticleId=na598), "Canada/New England" in the fall of 2004 (http://www.princess.com/news/article...rticleId=na592), and 15-day "Hawaii" cruises operating round trip from Los Angeles in the winter and spring of 2004-2005 (http://www.princess.com/news/article...rticleId=na596) that this transfer is, at the very least, postponed for at least a year. It's also obvious that there must be some transits of the Panama Canal to connect these itineraries, but I have not yet seen an announcement thereof.

P&O Princess Cruises Plc. has been reporting slow bookings on MV {i] A'Rosa Blu [/i] (formerly MV Crown Princess) for some time. Since it usually makes sense to keep sister ships in the same fleet to facilitate coordination of maintenance and training of crews, it would appear that there might be a plan in the works to bring this ship back to the Princess fleet. I can't help but wonder whether such a plan might have been the motivation to change the name of the "Super Grand" vessel originally ordered for British sister line P&O Cruises and subsequently reassigned to Princess Cruises from Crown Princess to Caribbean Princess. (BTW, a sister to this "Super Grand" vessel is now on order. Both vessels will displace 116,000 tons and have 3,100 lower berths.
