Default Nudity In Movies

I don't get what the big deal is.

It's just a body -- we all have one!

The last movie I saw was the "Star Trek" reboot in 2008. My hearing is so bad that I cannot hear the dialogue anymore. But, I agree about the too much of nudity belief.

I don't mind nudity in film, as long as it's not mine.

I have the same feeling about nudity in a movie as I have about violence in a movie. If it's just gratuitous then I really don't care for it. However, I do believe it's up to the audience to decide. I do like the current rating system on movies so parents can have an idea of what to expect and decide if their kids should see it or not.

Take care,
Mike

I think sex is a normal and healthy human body system/function.

We think about sex, why should we pretend it doesn't exist in movies.

I am FAR more concerned about gratuitous violence in movies than I am about nudity.

Nobody ever got the death penalty for being a serial nudist.

Paul,

I agree with you 100%

I'll bet naked bodies never gave any kid nightmares, but I'll bet violence, blood, and gore have given many kids nightmares.

I remember a comment Sally Struthers made years ago that if a man kissed a woman's breast that would get an "X" rating, but if he cut it off with a knife it would get only an "R" rating.

And for my opinion....its. not like there is nudity in a rated g movie...no issue with it myself. Recently i took my boys to the art museum here, and there are a couple statues of naked women and one male. No the boys weren't gawking, but they were looking, i didn't make them feel bad for it. There was another mother there, friend of mine, who made her daugters hide their eyes at all of them and walk quickly by. No wonder there are so many body image issues out there!

I agree with the majority in that as long as it's not ingenuous or gratuitous, then there is a place for it in the movie.

And I also agree that we have way too much violence in the movies.

What amazes me the most is too many people get way to upset about sex in the movies but don't object to violence in the movies. One is a perfectly natural part of life and the other isn't - go figure that one. Which would we rather have our children emulate?

Quite frankly, it's the Americans that are totally screwed up by all this - we pay too much attention to it and get all upset about nothing. Taken the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction. No one watching TV, and I mean no one really saw what happened when it happened. It wasn't until later when people started talking it and enlarged and enhanced pictures began showing up did people start to make a big deal about it. In Europe, they were laughing their asses off over how we, as a country, reacted to this whole thing. To them, it's just not a big deal. Our puritan upbringing has messed with what we feel is important and what is vulgar.

It really is funny how they handle such things compared to how we handle them. For example, when we were at a beach in Germany, people would leave their office for lunch, go to the beach, take a swim, and then go back to work. They would arrive at the beach in their business attire, strip and change into the swimming suit, and afterwards change back into their business attire. While they did not swim nude, there was no hesitation or embarrassment about changing right on the beach in public view. It's just not a big deal.

It's like psychologists will tell you about dealing with your children; if you make a big deal about something, they will want to do it more often because it invokes a big reaction. Doesn't matter that it's a positive or negative reaction. If they do something wrong and you make a big deal about it, they'll do it again just to get the attention. If you don't make a big deal about it, then they'll do something else that gets a reaction.

So, as I said, I just don't get that people, as a whole, make a big deal about nudity and not make a big deal about violence when it should be the other way around.

Pete

Ari is definitely the most interesting man in the world. He knows more improtant people and has influenced more significant events than anyone since Forrest Gump. My only problem is with his choice of basketball team since I am a San Antonio Spurs fan and don't care for the Lakers.

I think the world was a much better place 40 years ago before all this nudity and violence in the movies and on TV came about. People used to have a good moral fabric and taught their children that sex was for married people and exposing your body was wrong. How far has America fallen from then! People call it progress, I call it Stupid!

I have to admit that since I don't have kids I tend to just see issues like this as an adult - but Truck Cruiser has an important point.

Well 40 years ago everyone in the movies smoked.....but i wouldn't blame that on everyone who smokes now. You still have a sense of responsibility for yourself and how you want your children raised. Now, if someone smokes in a movie, it gets an "R" rating automatically....same with nudity.

Although i will concede nudity is on tv more, and honestly isnt necessary all the time. I just watch that with an appropriate audience, not my kiddos!

That was when "the Movies & TV" showed us there were no Black people, No Asians, no Hispanics in America. And women didnt speak unless spoken to, and only when their chores were done. Oh, and horses could talk, too.
