Plan to have a Christmas Cruise

Hi,

My family has been planning to go on a cruise for years, and now we're focused on realizing that dream!

I just have a few queries, though. I have a 6-year-old daughter who has ADHD. It's an illness where a child or adult can't seem to stay put or has short attention span. They have certain characteristics that may need some specific help.

Do you know if cruise companies have offers for a family like ours? I would be frustrated if I'd have to leave her behind because of this issue. Besides, family is the reason for the cruise so what's there to cruise without her?

Any advice?

Most cruise lines have specific departments related to disabilities. I know ADHD is not a disability, but these folks might be able to guide you. Talk to your travel agent they are your rust and often best source of information

You might want to consider Royal Caribbean. They've won awards for their autism programs - not saying ADHD is the same as autism, so please don't get me wrong. But they are really trying hard to offer cruising for everyone and to insure they have a good experience.

You should talk to your agent and have them check it out and provide more specific information just for you.

In the meantime, you can do some reading about it on the RCCL website; Autism Friendly Ships - Royal Caribbean International

Thanks so much for both your suggestions. I will consider checking out Royal Carribean and yes, I will have a more thorough talk with my agent. We have actually communicated this concern with my daughter's online psychologists, as we have been doing online therapy for months now and it's been really helpful. They stressed that we just had to make sure that my daughter will have everything she needs, including cruise privileges, which I hope are available for her.

I really hope my family will enjoy this coming cruise, especially my daughter. Her first cruise ever!
