I think it will be hit and miss. The more tourist oriented places "might" take US Dollars. All of your ports are in EU countries but only Finland uses the Euro, though all are more likely to take Euros than USD.

Denmark = Krone
Estonia = Kroon
Sweden = Krona

We used our Capital One credit card in all these places for major store purchases because they don't charge a transaction fee or exchange fee. For small purchases we used Euros with no problems. Enjoy!

Hi there, it is very unusual for anywhere in Europe to accept the US$, and if they do you will probably get a very bad exchange rate. Most will take Euros, but again the exchange rate will not be great.

Your best bet is to either exchange currency on the ship, get an ATM card that will allow you to draw money in Europe without a handling fee, or if you have them Stateside, buy a upfront payment credit card, where you deposit money on the card before you leave & then use it in the countries as if it were a debit card. The main benefit of this over travellers cheques is that you can use them in any shop that takes credit/debit cards, so you don't have to track down an exchange facility, and of course they are safer as you require a PIN to use them.
The benefit of these cards over your normal debit/credit card is that if it is stolen, then the person who took it (even if the have the PIN) cannot get any monies that you have not already put on the card, so you don't have to worry about massive losses or fraud.

As for each country, Denmark have the Danish Kroner, Estonia have Estonian Krooni (Euros should be ok though), Finland have the Finish Markkaa, and Sweden the Swedish Kronor. 4 countries, all with different currencies

I know this wasn't the answer you were hoping for, but I hope that there are some ideas which help you.

Happy Cruising,

Alan & Katrina

Thank you all so much. I believe I will get a preloaded debit/credit card to use and just carry smaller amounts of foreign currency.

I recently used Euros in all of the ports you are visiting. If you are flying into an airport in a country that uses the Euro, just pick up Euros at ATM. If not, just pick them up in ATM in Finland (which uses the Euro) or, as a last choice, onboard the ship.

This in NOT correct. Finland uses the Euro.
Also, in Finland, and several other European countries, like the Netherlands,
the amounts, when paying cash, are rounded to the nearest five.
So when having to pay 6.98, you will actually have to pay 7.00
Officially, when having to pay 6.97, you should pay 6.95.

This was done in the 'intrest of efficiency' but you can make sure that it will never
cost the shop any money.
So, if having to pay 6.95 (as indicated above) make sure you get your change for that
amount and not for 7.00.

Have fun

Default Hello

My advice will be to pay trough credit card, or debit card. There is no fee when you pay with credit card and the exchange rates are very good.
In case you need to exchange money, USD -> EURO I advice you to made this exchange at the Bank offices. If you will do it at the normal Exchange Office that you will find on the street be sure you read careful the rates and the percentage of the exchange.
