Default Desirable skills to boost resume?

I was speaking to someone whose friend was an experiences seamstress and that helped them get hired for a position. Are there any other skills which are in demand on cruise ships? I am mostly inquiring about non-officer, non-entertainment, and non-engineering roles. Anything pertaining to cleaning, gift shops, wait staff, etc.

You have asked an excellent question.
There are very easy answers, but you may not like them.

Cruise lines are looking for people who:

1. Speak multiple languages
2. Have previous experience working on cruise ships
3. Have hospitality (hotel, restaurant, airline, etc) experience
4. Have international living / working experience
5. Can work and live well in multi-cultural settings
6. Have extensive international travel experience
7. Do not have visible tattoos or piercings
8. Do not have drug or alcohol issues
9. Are willing and able to work extremely long hours with very few days off, for long periods
10. Are not US citizens. Unfortunately, most cruise lines have had a very disappointing history with hiring Americans to work onboard ships. They are - for the most part - extremely reluctant to hire anyone with a US passport.
