Post Promotion on a Cruise Ship

Hi ,

Any one who had worked in the entertainment dept or stage,lounge staff or disc jockey or any other entertainment area. can you be promote within the company and if what step require?
Specially I am thinking from lounge tech to sound tech ???? do you have resign and re-apply for different position or some position ??

No you can do it during your current contract. You apply (if available which usually are) for the position, approved (usually no issues) by shore side, do the training. After that do the interview on board and if everything is fine, up you go.

and its better because you actually learn the specific things you need for the job and the interview is more related to "why you decided to do that" and not technical questions.

Of course, you should not have warnings, written or verbal and i you need to complete at least one contract.

It's recommended while on the job to cross-train or observe what the main room tech is doing. Many stage staff and lounge techs run 'easier' events in the theater (comedy or talent shows, lectures, sometimes show rehearsals) under the close eye of the main room tech to get the feel of the board and venue. In case of illness or dismissal of the main roon tech, you'd get thrown on it anyway . . . and it's good to be ready. Happens more than you'd think.
