Default Fast Passport Time

My daughter renewed her passport on August 8th and my SIL applied for a new passport on the same day. Both arrived yesterday, August 16th. I think eight days is extremely fast turnaround. What I am amazed at is that a renewal and new passport were turned around in the same amount of time.

She is a bit concerned because their supporting documentation did not come back with the passports but their was a note that it could return in a separate letter.

Take care,
Mike

After Congress reamed out the head of the passport department over the backlog created by the completely predictable spike in demand due to the new laws, she trotted off and opened up a huge new facility. I'm guessing that they overbuilt by quite a lot to shut up the Congresspeople who were getting piles of heat from constituents (you-know-what flows downhill).

So they've probably got capacity to spare now that things have more or less quieted down again. And that probably makes the passport office the most efficient service in the government for now.

And did somebody tell me that the actual passports are being printed in China, or did I dream that?

Mike, That was fast. I look at ours and are so glad we don't have to go through it every year.

Mine turned around in a week and the expired passport was returned the next day. I am still waiting for the passport card which, in a subsequent mailing, is due to arrive by mid-September.
