Dan...I have a theory but I will wait for Melody's response

When Grambling Coach Eddie Robinson died, I saw a special that I was soooo impressed with...for all of his success at Grambling, against so great of obstacles, his most famous quote was "one job, one wife"..he always saw himself as a teacher of young men first, and a football coach second..and the outpour of love and praise of his former and current players at his funeral services is a tribute to Coach Robinson's committment to a "higher calling"...outside of Penn State Coach Joe Paterno, I don't see any of the same committment level in today's head coaches on the college level..what message are they really sending to their athletes ?

I'm really not familiar with the man.
I DO know that he allowed the rumor of him leaving for Michigan to grow for about the last month or so.

To get huffy because ESPN said it again was uncalled for.

OK Venice,

Here's the deal, as I witnessed this evening:

ESPN reported this morning (PST) that Les Miles was taking the Michigan job. Later that day, Miles held a hastily-called press conference to deny that he was taking the job. In the press conference, he vociferiously denied that he was taking the Michigan job, and that he was definitely staying at LSU.

TV analysts believe that the Michigan job was offered, and got leaked out to the public. Whereupon, and with the SEC title game at stake, Miles was very much put on the spot. And so, he had little choice but to deny the Michigan job, and state his intention to stay at LSU.

He may very well take the Michigan job, but at this juncture, must state his undying love for LSU.

How many times in the past, have we heard coaches state their undying love for a particular school, and then a week later, take a job at another school? Oh let me count the times..........

Dean

Mean Dean..those are my thoughts exactly and in light of the results of yesterday, which may give LSU an outside chance to play for the national championship in New Orleans (which I think FOX TV is pulling for), I think Miles less then candor statements yesterday will just fuel the fire and I still think he will wind up at Michigan

I'm sure our gal Melody has the real scoop and just is not commenting

I really thought he was gone. LSU had even released the names of possible replacements. However, Skip isn't one to lie. If he says Les is staying, then he is staying. Maybe my voodoo spell worked. I did hear that his kids really liked it in Baton Rouge and they wanted to stay. Maybe that had something to do with it. In any case, I need BCS and Sugar Bowl tickets.....so all of you need to get busy and get me some tickets!

Melody..have you e-mailed your Christmas wish list to Santa yet Maybe if you have been a very good (but honorable) Southern Lady all year, you might get your tickets

Of course, if you were very very very bad you'll have seats on the 50 yard line courtesy of Will

any Super Bowl..the majority of the tickets are purchased by corporations for their top clients or for marketing efforts and then the league holds alot and the participating teams each are allocated some..very few tickets are actually purchased and it's usually thru a broker

Cynic..Melody is a classic Southern Lady so there will be no such thing involved in our friendly wager...it will be more along the line of involving the preparation of a meal

Melody, my friend..first of all I can cook and I do have my "special impress the lady" (note singular, I can only impress one lady at a time ) dish

note : I have my entire home wired for surround sound including my kitchen, so you will be listening to Brian Culbertson "It's On Tonight" CD while I am cooking for you 8)

Caribbean Black Bean and Rice Salad
Roast Chicken for Two (with Fennel Stuffing and Currant Relish)
Candied Yams and Pineapple
Decadent Peanut Butter Pie

Wine : Santorini Special Blend (private stock from Greece-only for my "special guest")

and for breakfast the next morning (after we attend church")

Spicy Shrimp with Grits

Of course, for you Melody, you can put in a request and I will gladly oblige 8)

I'm thinking if you win a cruise of your choice
If I win, my choice
