Default Foreign Currency

Does Princess line carry foreign currency for exchange in foreign ports? We're going on the Golden Princess Aug. 30. It starts in Venice. This is the first time we are taking a European cruise. All our others have been been in the Carribean etc.

I had heard from a friend who was on Golden last year in the Mediterranean (sp?) that told me that Princess installed a currency converter on the ship for this purpose

You insert currency and then it converts it to the currency that you want. For example - if you insert American money - you can get the European dollar or vice versa.

You can buy it on the ship, but that may be a bit too late. Would suggest you buy some currency at the U.S. airport before departure, or upon your arrival in Italy... so you have some money to handle tips, snacks, etc., en route to the ship.

You can also purchase Euros at your local bank. Just give them some notice.

The surcharge will probably be less than that at currency exchange booths.
