Default How is the Century?

We are booked on the Century in December, and want to know how she is looking.

Has anyone had recent experience on the ship?

We sailed the Med in early September. I would suggest that it's time for her to get an update. We decided to book at cat 4 cabin (8028) across the back. What a mistake! There are some extreme vibration problems when the ship is entering or leaving port. These problems seem to be mostly affecting the aft cabins and the dining room. Try to avoid tables in the restaurant that are aft. It's particularly difficult to have carry a conversation at a large table when you can't hear the people across from you.

Most of the public rooms are OK, I was really disappointed in the condition of the deck chairs outside of the Islands Cafe and around the pool. Most of them were falling apart of tapped together. The sink in our cabin was badly stained and the shower was usually very mouldy.

The staff were very good and always helpful. I really didn't care much for the cruise director, most of his jokes were lame and very few people gave him much attention.

What really bothered me was the contstant harrasment by the bar staff. no matter where you were in there was always some one asking you if you'd like I drink. At one point while at the pool, I was asked if I like something to drink 15 times in an 1/2 hour!!!! The most upsetting was the selling of drinks in the show lounge during performance. They bar staff were always standing in front of you trying to serve someone a drink!!!!! If I want a drink I'll go to a bar but I'm trying to watch a show.

Tendering was a very smooth operation and the staff were great.

We have sailed on CENTURY twice, and love her. She is the perfect size, has a wonderful captain and crew, and a terrific culinary staff. The folks that book her like a smaller ship, and have, on the two occasions we sailed, been interesting and well-travelled.

Yes, she needs sprucing up (mainly upholstery and soft goods), but overall she is well-cared for and shining. The staff are always cleaning and polishing.
I understand she is going into drydock within the next year, though I don't know when. I'd like to know, actually: I would book another cruise on her in a heartbeat, and would be interested in doing so after she gets a "facelift".

Happy Trails,

CENTURY is scheduled for quite an extensive drydock at the end of her
Carribean season next Spring; almost 30 days; due to re-emerge with quite a lot of upgrades and being stepped-up close to a Millie class .
Then heads off to Europe.

Anybody booked on her from Summer '06 onward will be fortunate to sail on board a '' like new '' ship following her nidlife refits.

Nest up: CENTURY June'08....B2B Norwegian Fjords/Artic/NorthCape & Scandinavia/Russia

We just disembarked the Century and it was an incredible experience with the best staff we've ever run into. This spring it will be refurbished and I would sail on it in a heart beat..

Haven't found a bad Celebrity ship yet. As mentioned before on other posts, the Century is the perfect size ship. Looking forward to sailing on her again after she goes in for her face lift!

Happy sailing and bon Voyage

Returned on 11/17/05 from a ten-day cruise on the Century and was quite pleased with the condition of the ship, service and food. Also, the CDC inspected the ship on the 17th and she passed with a 99
Can't wait to see the "upgraded" version after drydock in '06

I'm going on the Century on Jan 12 for a little two nighter out of Ft. Lauderdale. Just goes to Coco Cay and back.

I'm a big Celebrity fan and booked this ship before I knew she was going in for a face-lift. When she's fully recovered, I would definately book her again. I've ready lately that she's going to have nice refurbishment with more balconies, new specialty restaurant, lounge etc.

Celebrity is getting her groomed to do the Meditteranean.

I'm looking forward to the new ship in 2008.

I'm going to keep my eye on the Century, especially if she ends up doing the Med after her "refit"!

I want to do the Med in 2007 and would prefer not to go on a mega ship!

I love the pre-planning!
