Default San Juan question

I know there is a Senor Frogs in San Juan... is it anywhere near where the boat docks? Is it a safe area to be walking around or is it like Jamaica where you are better off staying with the group?

The Senor Frogs in San Juan is a 5 minute walk from the dock, there are always lots of cruise passengers walking around (and lots of them are heading for Senor Frogs) so I'd say you're pretty safe going to Senor Frogs.

Senor Frogs in Old San Juan is on the street behind the Sheraton Old San Juan which is across from the pier where Carnival Destiny docks. It is a safe area. We had lunch and a drink there and watched some "interesting" drinking games!

We will be on the Victory. Do you think it docks in the same place as the Destiny?

Was in San Juan last year (in the evening. We (hubby, sister and bro-in-law) walked the streets and on one of the back streets a little out of the way I spied Senor Frogs. I really wanted to go in, but they all thought it looked like a "local drinking spot". I am the only reader of cruiselines, so I know Senor Frogs and Carlos and Charlies are the fun places to visit. Needless to say, we didnt go in. Am returning to a port visit in San Juan in FEb. 2006 .... this time Senor Frogs will be a stop !!!

Who has been to the San Juan one ???????????

The Victory will dock at the same place as the Destiny in San Juan. All the Senor Frogs are basically the same, lots of fun. When the cruise ships are in port, they are packed with cruise passengers.

I just went to San Jaun a few weeks ago, and did something different for a change, took a cab to the Ritz Carlton casino, it was beautiful, left a little money, but thats o.k. it was fun. It was $16.00 for the taxi so we shared it with the folks we ate dinner with.
it was beautiful, and only about 20 min away.
I went into the casino at the port and had to get out of their it was creepy.

We stayed in Puerto Rico for a total of five days before and after our two cruises in May.
We also went to the Ritz Carlton Casino every day and had a great time. During the time we were there, we found the machines to be very loose. Another interesting local custom which we noticed immediately, is that the locals "reserve" their favorite machines by putting one of their house/car keys right into the opening where you deposit coins. Sometimes, they would leave their keys in the bottom of the slot where the coins pour out. If you found their ring of keys, then that meant they would be returning. Sometimes they would be gone for several hours! Very interesting custom that I have not seen anywhere else, Las Vegas, Biloxi, etc. The casino was very modern and had many of the newer slots. Lots of penny slots for penny slot addicts. Also, they had the ticket system so you didn't have to handle coins. (When you are ready to leave the machine, a ticket is printed out with your winnings). You can either cash that in or put it into another slot.

Sharon2u,

I would imagine they take US coins since Puerto Rico is a US Commonwealth.

I love San Juan..... they use US currency.
Senor Frogs (from the cruise dock) is 1 block to the left , turn right and then left - and there you are.
We had a hard time finding it even though it is right near the ships, it is off on a side street.

We ate at a fantastic restaurant called Tantra....the other places to eat had an hour wait.
HA - we walked right into Tantra and had an excellent meal with no waiting.
