Smile Can we do it ?

WE booked a cruise last January for next April with Celeberty for $1669 P.P. The price is still the same today except they are offering a free drink package if you book now.I was wondering if we would be able to cancel the cruise and then rebook and get the freestuff? We have already made final payment if that make a diirence.

Give your agent a call and have them take care of this for you. Most of the time, they do not have to cancel, but can simply change the fare code to get you the new amenities.

Can you imagine trying to call the cruise line and asking the person who picked up the phone, to try and do it for you ???

Shouldn't be a problem at all. Even though you've made final payment, it doesn't seem like final payment is actually due. The only thing you need to watch is that current price isn't some weird special that doesn't include the drink package promo.

This is only are secound cruise and we are thinking about not using this T.A anymore

First, they do not have to 're-book' the cruise. Using Cruisingpower, which is RCCL and Celebrity's booking site, all the agent has to do is to go on there and change the fare code.

The only reason why their website would show a different rate is if the category of your cabin is different than their cheapest rate category.

Sounds to me like your agent is not a cruise specialist and is simply a travel agent who is not familiar enough with how the system works.

If you want to pm me with your specific information, I'll be happy to check it out for you and see if there is a difference in the price or not. Perhaps your agent is either not being forthright with you or they simply don't understand how the system works.

Just hate to see people getting taken advantage of.

By the way, I checked with Celebrity and even though the policy on the special says, 'for new bookings only', they also told me what I already knew; if you're already booked on the cruise, they will allow us to simply change the fare code in order to take advantage of the special. This will work if the price is the same or has gone down. However, you can still do it if the price has gone up, but you would have to pay the difference.

Bottom line is that whenever a special is offered on a cruise that you're already booked on, talk to your agent and see if they get the special for you. Also, always watch the prices; if they go down, contact your agent immediately.

But if, as in this case, the agent is telling you things that don't make sense or do not seem right, get a second opinion. Unfortunately, many agents are more interested in selling than in servicing. As I always say, best price is not always best deal.
