Default What to see in Natchez & Baton Rouge ??

This will be our first Steamboat cruise. What are some of the must see things we should do in Baton Rouge & Natchez.

We are booked on the American Queen 7/26/04 for 4 nites out of New Orleans.

How efficient are the air conditioned rooms on the steamboat? We are in room
435.

Any tips, suggestions for first timers would be appreciated.
How dressed up do we need to be on the 4 nite cruise in the dinning room

Thanks!

Hello There

I was on the ship not too long ago, but on the 3 day cruise.

Not sure about Natchez, but in BTR you can tour the Battleship right NEXT to the AQ (buy your tickets at the museum, not from the DQ folks, and the Argosy Casino is not too far away, go there sign up for a players card, you can get some free stuff doing that.

The AC on that ship is GRRRRRRREAT, you will stay nice and comfy in your rooms.

You should dress up a little, not formal, but at least no beach wear. The food was excellent.

Darrell

We had a great time on the American Queen for 4 nites out of New Orleans.

And yes, the AC is Great. Entertainment was very good, better than I expected. Compared to the big cruise liners, which have large stages, fancy lighting, powerhouse sound systems and dancers to go with the lead singers, the 3 singers on the AQ are just as good, if not a bit better than the talent on the larger cruise liners. The cruise director can really sing!

We enjoyed all that was happening aboard ship and had just enough time in town, and really welcomed comming back to the AQ and her AC!

Our two chilidren (15) & (12) missed having no TV's in the room, but we were glad that they did not have TV. AQ has Jr. Steamboaters activities throughout the cruise, and the kids get a cool captains hat at the end of the sessions.

AQ even had internet access on 1 computer in the Chart Room. I used it twice and was able to check a few things, as the speed wasn't unbearable. I'd guess it to be about 44K- 56K

The Lounge singer 'Jackie' is fantastic. I have never heard any vocalist do "Carpenter's" songs so nicely before. All and all, a great get away.

Go Steamboatin' !!!
