Sovereign of the Seas

June 9, 2012 Breezes of the Mediterranean – Pullmantur cruise on the Sovereign: The Sorvereign is an older ship, and our cabin (outside on level 8) needed some maintenance attention. However, cabins were kept clean by stewards. Food was good – well-prepared, tasty and with plenty of variety. The live entertainment (evening shows) was of the same standard that I have experienced onother cruises. Of course Spanish is the main language spoken but all announcements are translated into a number of languages, including English. Menus can be requested in English, and the daily newpaper can also be requested in English. An English tour guide can be chosen for shore excursions. We found that all staff spoke at least some English, particularly the waiters in the restaurant. The language issue (Spanish orientation) was not an issue at all. The huge draw-card with Pullmantur cruises is the all-inclusive nature of the cruise – a very substantial list of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, coffees, speciality coffees, bottled water etc. is included in the cost of the cruise. There is an extra charge for certain “premium” drinks. We did not find it necessary to order any of these. We found the embarkation and disembarkation process well organised and professional. We only took one excursion, which was O.K. but not exceptional, and cannot comment on excursions in general. Overall, great value for money.
