We just returned from a cuise on the Sovereign of the Seas and had a great time. There were ten in our party, four including me who were parents and we had six children and friends among us who were ages 18-24. All of us had a great time and can't wait to go on another cruise.
There is plenty to do on the ship to keep all ages occupied. The only problem I find is that none of us ever wanted to go to bed so when we departed the ship we were exhausted. The shows are great. We saw the The Royal Caribbean Singers & Dancers perform two different shows and both are worth seeing. We also saw Lenny Welch and he was good and we participated in the Love and Marriage game, it was hilarious. We also went to Karaoke two times. There is plenty to do all the time. The kids enjoyed dancing on the top deck and the Music Man Lounge after midnight was were they wanted to be. We also visted the casino and one member of our party won $1,000 on the second day. My husband and I went to the casino every evening and only lost $40 which I don't think is bad when you consider the hours we spent in there.
When you go to Nassau try and visit Atlantis. We didn't take an excursion we just rode a water taxi there and visited the places we could for free in Atlantis. You can visit the casino, the shops, and part of the aquarium and be sure to walk out on the veranda and see the beach. I would love to stay there sometime, but I heard its really expensive. This was our second time to Nassau and it hasn't changed except the straw market we visited a few years ago has burnt down and the new one just isn't the same. Word of caution for people renting mopeds. My son and one of his friends did and the moped had no brakes, gauges didn't work and it died on them outside of Atlantis. The people who rented it didn't fill it with gas, cause the gauges didn't work. This didn't stop the boys they had it exchanged for another one without working gauges or brakes, but filled with gas. However, drive with caution, the drivers are crazy. You can find bargains in Nassau, but it is for expensive name brand items. Liquor is also cheaper.
The ship is great. Its beautiful and the food in the dining room was wonderful. However, there was a sewer odor in the hallway by our cabin, but our cabin never smelled bad. The ship never smelled bad except for the odor in our hallway. The staff was wonderful especially our dining room attendants and our room steward.
If a person doesn't have a great time on this cruise they must be someone who is very hard to please. This is our second cruise, but first time on this ship and we can't wait to go again.
