CruiseMates' Readers Cruise Reviews

Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines Monarch of the Seas Mexico May 2, 2005

Our ports for this cruise were SanDiego, Catalina Island, and Encenada. This is an older ship for RCI. The rooms are smaller and show some aging, but they are clean and funtional. The food ranged from good to very good. We opted not to eat in the dining room due to we don't like assigned dining.

We prefer freestyle dining. The staff were wonderful. The ports were very good, with exception of Catalina, we found it to be nothing but a tourist trap. The ship had plenty of shops and pubs. For the price this was a value. I would suggest this cruise for first time cruisers or anyone just needing a quick relaxing get away.
