Embarked at Ft Lauderdale, Fl, after arriving at the pier via Cruise Connection bus. Embarkation was quick and we were eating lunch in the Lido about 1/2 hour later. Our room was ready and we were able to drop off our carry on luggage. Having cruised with HAL (6 times), we were dissappointed at the small size of our cabin. HAL's inside cabin was much larger. The ship was in nice shape for being 10 years old. It appeared that new carpeting had been installed through-out. There were no foul odors that we detected. Since this was our first Princess cruise we took a tour of the ship and then settled in. We were impressed by the Atrium area, spacious and comfortable. Both Theaters seemed over-crowded (too small). And u had to hurry from dinner to get a seat. At the horizon court, the lines did not seem right, as they did'nt flow smoothly.
Also, Princess does not provide trays and
you are constantly juggling the plates. The food
at the Regency Dining Room was average, but the
service was good and the staff were friendly. We
also ate at Verdi's, one time, and the pizza was
excellent. We did not eat at the premium dining room. The activities, on board, were the usual,
and i liked the golf simulater. There were plenty
of casual rooms around, where one could order a
drink or just lounge. The Promenade was great,
except that there were never enough deck chairs to
go around. And therefore, sometimes u had to wait
for one. We enjoyed most of the islands and expecially liked their Island, Princess Cay. Upon
returning, Disembarkation was extremely slow.
Summary: Nice ship, but we liked HAL better OH well, you can't have everything!
