My wife and I sailed aboard the Golden Princess the week of Jan.19 through Jan.26. Our overall experience was great and I would like to take this opportunity to tell of our experience.
Getting on and off the ship was a breeze. The use of the ship's card made everthing go smoothly and quickly. The ship's staff did an excellent job of doing their daily tasks without disrupting the passengers.
My wife and I made a point to go to as many of the production shows as possible. After the first night, we realized the shows were as good as any we had seen in LasVegas. Getting there early also assures you of getting a good seat, unlike LasVegas.
The food however fell short of expections. The night we had king crab legs, we were given the lower part of the crab legs not the upper, more meatier part. The service was exceptional. We preferred the traditional seating.
Another minor thorn in what should have been an excellent review of the food experience was the decision to to invalidate the soft drink priviledge of the ship's card on Princess Cays. I was told that it could only be used aboard ship.
Also with all the things that were top notch I can't beiieve that Princess Cruises would stoop so low as to charge you for the bottle of water that was placed in your room upon arrival. You don't notice that you will be charged for it until after you have opened it. Worse yet. It doesn't appear on your bill until the last day.
We steered clear of the Cruise Director of the ship(Janet)and her "gay" assistant (Frankie). We found her to be too boisterous and him to be too "open). o be more sensitive to those passengers who do not advocate the alternative lifestyle.
