CruiseMates' Readers Cruise Reviews

Princess Cruises Golden Princess by Glenn Eastern Caribbean March 8, 2003

This was our 24th cruise 2nd on Princess (on Grand in May 2002). Once again Princess lived up to our expectations. Check in was wonderful. 10 minutes after you arrived (we did our own transportation)we were on our way to our room. We were in category BA room C214. Nice and roomy, with plenty of hanging space and hangers.

The balcony was great, 12 foot deep with 2 loungers 2 chairs and a table. The only draw back was if you went out to the outer 6 foot of the balcony it was like you were in a fish bowl as all the other decks looked down on you. We really like this itinerary (so much we booked the Grand again in June 2003) Two days at sea, then a full day in St. Marteen, a full day in St Thomas then another full day at sea and then a private island. It is really relaxing, no rushing off to a new port every day. The food at the buffet was very good, perhaps the best of all the ships we have been on.

The food in the dining room was just OK. Compared to Celebrity or Royal Caribbean it was of much lower quality. The shows were good when we could get into see them. It seems that they would show the good shows in the small showrooms and show a movie in the main one. The Cruise director was great, We had Graham when we were on the Grand and were really happy to see him on the Golden.

If you go on this ship by all means do the personal choice dining. It is really nice not being on a schedule and going when you want. We had a handicap person in our group and this ship and all the personel were great. Getting off the ship was as easy as getting on. Fort Lauderdale is a great place to cruise from. If you have any questions, send me an email.
