Princess Cruises Dawn Princess
December 20, 2005

Decided to take the Christmas cruise to Mexico and chose "Dawn Princess" for the 10 day trip leaving from San Francisco and return.

We boarded very easily this time from Pier 35 in San Francisco no so when we boarded the Sapphire in Los Angeles earlier this month.

Our room which was on Emerald Deck was quite handy to the Atrium elevators, shops and best of all, a short walk to the dining room so we were quite pleased.

I still feel the service personnel could take a few lessons from Celebrity and exude a little more excitement at our arrival on board. The dining room was very nice and festive for the holidays and I would tell anyone to give up carving the turkey and all the trimmings and let Princess do it all for you.  The food was adequate, but just so so. I still think they should offer free ice cream ice cream throughout the day and still notice the "pushing" of drinks by the various waiters in all public rooms which I am sure they are encouraged to do.The shows were so so, not enough dancers to make it to the extravaganza level and the lead girl singer sang flat most of the time.

The planning for Christmas with at least 450 young people aboard was well done, every child receiving a gift, midnite mass and church and the first nights of Channukah were well attended.  I still think they should limit the amount of youngers aboard but in this case, it was ok by me.

Our dining steward and assistant worked quite well together and our room steward, Elena was very nice.

I love this ship one of the reasons it is smaller than the super liners and quite large enough.  Easy to get around and mostly friendly people aboard.  I am an avid trivia player and they suppled lots of good prizes for the winners of which I was lucky enough to become.  All in all, we liked being away for Christmas and in fact have booked on the same ship and itinerary for April to celebrate a birthday. Can't stress enough to lay out your future cruise deposits while on board. They come in handy for other cruises and this is a wonderful way to plan for the next cruise.A special thanks to the Captain's Circle representive Roxy, who was wonderful, but you need to replace the Future Cruise person on that cruise with someone who has a better personality.Keep up the good work!
