It was our 25th wedding anniversary and we chose the Alaska cruise on Princess Dawn. We came into Vancouver two days early and spent a day touring this beautiful city. We arrived at the terminal early but everyone had to wait for customs to get ready. Once on board we headed to our mini suite. We really like the layout of the mini suites on the Dawn. Our room steward did a great job and our room always looked great. We did fixed dining and had a great time and the food and service was very good. One recommendation to people leaving out of Vancouver. Vancouver is a beautiful city to view from the water and the ship heads out right at the early dinner seating time. If you have early seating, skip the dining room on the first night and enjoy sailing away from port and going under Lion's bridge. If the weather isn't good, then go to dinner. You can always eat at the buffet later.
The first day cruising the inside passage was so foggy that you couldn't see anything. So we stayed indoors and learned how to dance with cruise director Emily. Watched a movie and took it easy.
The Alaska ports were fabulous and we took a whale watching tour in Juneau. Good excursion. In Skagway, we took the narrow gauge railroad up to white pass. Awesome!!!! A beautiful day and spectacular scenery. Crusing the glaciers were wonderful. You just won't believe the views if you never been to Alaska. The onboard shows were very good. We had a wonderful time. I definately will do another Alask cruise again. I would recommend the Princess Dawn even though its a little older. It's well laid out.
