Voyages of Discovery M.V. Discovery by R.G. Waring Panama Canal March 31, 2004

This was a 14 day cruise from Acapulco to Ft. Lauderdale.Gerry Herrod (owner) did a marvelous job in refitting & refurbishing this ship (Previously the Island Princess or "Love Boat"). We were in a category "D" cabin #8007 on the Bridge Deck.It was huge and would be described as a mini suite on most ships. The food in the Seven Continents dining room was good, except for the fish, which obviously had been frozen for an extended period of time and was quite strong tasting. The menu used on this trip was designed for the British taste & not American.

The food at the out door Lido buffet was good, especially breakfast. The Yacht Club restaurant was excellent, even with its very limited menu. The Filippino crew provides superb, professional, yet friendly service. The entertainment was just right for a small ship. The Discovery Orchestra was excellent, The duo playing in the Discovery lounge had many of us on the dance floor each night. The two lecturers were outstanding. Many of the passengers on this trip were old Marco Polo fans and were delighted the same ambiance found on that old ship was here again in force. All in all, this was a fine cruise and I will be riding on it again next year.
