Norwegian Cruise Line Norwegian Majesty Western Caribbean March 24, 2003

I went in with an open mind, and basically left never wanting to go on another Norwegian ship - never-the-less another cruise for a while. I was so disappointed because I loved our last two cruises (with Carnival - Paradise '99 and Imagination '01).

To start off, our luggage took absolutely forever to arrive to our room. So much for the nice tip... We were on the 4th floor and yes our room was small - the smallest we've had yet - but as far as I'm concerned, the rooms are only for sleeping (or whatever) so I wasn't bothered by the size. I was bothered by the staff running the vacuum cleaner outside our cabin at 7:00 a.m.! And on our last night, they had pipe problems and from 11:00 pm til 1:00 a.m. all you could hear was cranking and banging on the water pipes. It was extremely frustrating as we had a big day of traveling ahead of us.

The free style dining was less than desirable for my husband and I. I'm 29, he is 32 and on the whole ship, we were never sat with anyone close to our age. It was nice meeting folks from the older crowd, that was some of the best conversations I had actually, but it would have been really nice to come away with new friends to keep in touch with like we have the past cruises.

The ship was OH SO SMALL. I hadn't quite prepared myself for that. There was always a struggle for lounge chairs... and it was also near Spring Break for the college kids - HINT TO EVERYONE - avoid cruising in March. These kids were constantly drinking, rude and obnoxious and made laying out on the deck the worst part of the cruise.

The entertainment was barely decent. Bingo is well... BINGO. The comedians were ok - at least better than the dancer characters.

I'd rate the food a C. Nothing special. The wait staff always seemed put out when I would ask for two of the entrees. I would rather have the same waiter every night. These cruises are very special to my husband and I - I didn't wait years to spend our hard earned money to be waited on by mediocre and poor waiters.

Disembarktion was fine.

Over all, the Norwegian Majesty left a very bad taste in my mouth for cruising. I was sadly disappointed.
