Norwegian Cruise Line Norwegian Majesty Bermuda July 24, 2005

This was our fourth cruise and our second on the Majesty to Bermuda.

As Latitude members, we had virtually no line and a smooth hassle free boarding. We packed bathing suits and wraps in our carry on, that way we were sipping drinks at the pool by noon!

The cabin was 494AFT and our smallest cabin yet, on our Christmas cruise we had a small suite with a balcony so you can imagine the adjustments that were needed. This is our freestyle relaxing cruise so we had packed light , actually we only had a carry on and a small weekender each.

We skirted the outer edges of Storm Franklin so arrived at the dock a few hours late. People claimed that it was a rough ride Monday night. MSO and I never felt a thing; we went to bed at 11 and slept like babies until 830.

The Majesty is a wonderful ship, I love everything about her. The crew, the food, the overall experience. This is a fun relaxing cruise that can be as formal or as casual as you like. One night we dressed formal, one night resort casual, and one night we just ate burgers in our trunks on the back of the ship.

We did go to the Pasta Cafe one of the "Specialty" restaurants. The food and service were great. There were two young couples with 4 children under the age of 4 at a 730 seating. As with most young couples today they totally ignored the chaos that their tykes caused. Shouts , screams , repeatedly thrown salt shakers, etc. On my comment card I suggested that toddlers not be allowed in specialty restaurants after 7. I still can't understand why the parents did not share babysitting duty so that each couple (and the rest of us ) could enjoy a quiet meal.

The negatives of this cruise are the same as I've found on most cruises, deck chairs that are "reserved" for the day on sea days, and children in adult areas. Hot tubs, pools etc. I know its the parents responsibility, but it sure would be nice if the crew enforced the rules of the ship.

As I've often said on this site, the Majesty is public transportation. The rugs are worn in spots. Moreover, yes there is some rust. People, if you are going to eat at the buffet please realize what it is. It is a buffet! Some food will be warm, some food might be dry It's fast casual and filling. Not gourmet. I hate it when people criticize a buffet. That's the same as saying "Gee the pool was nice, but I got wet."

Freestyle disembarkation was a piece of cake once it got going.

We love this ship and cruise line so much we are now planning a group cruise for next July.
