CruiseMates' Readers Cruise Reviews

Norwegian Cruise Line Norwegian Dream Western Caribbean January 30, 2005

We, too, had some concerns after reading earlier reader reviews about this ship and cruise. Thankfully, we were pleasantly surprised. This was a nice, relaxing cruise as we had hoped to find. We used the NCL transfer to the pier, which really isn't necessary. It would have been easier and taken less time had we chosen to take a taxi. Embarkation was quick and simple. As we are Latitudes members, we were directed to a special line and we boarded the ship within ten minutes. Our stateroom was a nice size and I didn't even mind being forward of the medical center. The ports of call, Cozumel, Roatan Island, Belize and Cancun are really for those people who love snorkeling and beaches. We've been to these ports previously, so instead, we just got off the ship, walked around and went back to the ship. It's just as pleasant to sit by a very quiet pool and not have to fight for lounge chairs. The entertainment was adequate, not great.

I give a heartfelt thanks to the dining room staff. I require a special diet which was accomodated each night, without a problem. My husband was able to special order sugar free desserts that weren't on the menu. He was ecstatic. Most of the Spa staff were seasoned massage therapists and estheticians. The spa and gym are small but the massages and seaweed therapy were heavenly. My major complaint was that one of the managers of the spa refused to accept a discount coupon that I had received from the parent company. Debarkation was the quickest and easiest of all ten cruises we have taken. Best of all, this cruise was a real bargain.
