The MISSISSIPPI QUEEN and DELTA QUEEN are running again and the AMERICAN QUEEN will start river cruises in January, 2003. We were passengers on the MQ in early October, travelling from St. Paul to St. Louis. It was a terrific trip and we would strongly recommend it to anyone. Our stateroom on the Texas deck was surprisingly roomy and also had a verandah. The bath had a full tub and shower. For dinner, we chose the first sitting at 5:15, since the late sitting, at 7:45, was too late for us. Lance, the maitre d', couldn't have been more helpful and friendly, and his staff was very efficient and friendly, too.
The Riverlorian, Clara, gave talks during a buffet breakfast in the Grand Saloon, and these were well done and well received. Although the side trips in the various towns along the way were an added cost, they were well worth it. There was a show every night with various themes, and the band was excellent. After the last show, the same band played for dancing. There was also the Paddlewheel LounNow we hope to sign up for a trip on the Delta Queen next year. I'm sure we won't be disappointed. Delta Queen Steamboat Company is back in business and doing what they do best!
