CruiseMates' Readers Cruise Reviews

Costa Cruises Costa Concordia by flyingdutchman Western Mediterranean April 20, 2008

Check in good. First encounter to change dinner seating awful; Gianni Patrito, Chef d'Hotel rude and unpleasant.

Itinerary Fabulous

Food: OK

Ship: Very clean.

Drinks: X1 package excellent.

Design of Ship: Lousy, nowhere a comfortable seating area to enjoy where you were going to.

BIG Problem: NO rules enforced. Children everywhere including in the casino, health club, "adults only" pool, etc.

Gala Events: People in T shirts and jeans.

Smoking all over the ship.

This cruise line should NOT be recommended to North Americans while sailing in Europe.

3200 Wild screaming Italians (with small children) and a few hundred others.

Found out Costa has a program "Cruise now, pay later" scam. Well you can imagine.

Luggage handling was extremely rough. Met four passengers onboard that had to buy new luggage and ours was broken upon disembarkation.(watched it when we got off early; unreal how Costa handlers dealt with bags).

The highlight of the cruise was the crew -- Philipinos, and other Asians, working 8 months, 24 x 7 and having the most wonderful attitude.

Never again we will take Costa in Europe, but overall it was a good experience mainly due to the crew and the ports of call.
