Sailed on the Horizon out of Philadelphia. This was our first cruise. We are mid-50's, professionals, who have done extensive traveling. Selected Celebrity because they offer a more "up-scale, sophisiticated" experience, according to our travel agent. We were not disappointed. I had read the on-line reviews of this trip, and was worried about possible storms, but our weather was almost perfect for the entire trip. Our expectations of a clean ship, courteous crew, good food, and decent entertainment were certainly well met, and in most cases, exceeded. I would recommend this trip to anyone that was interested in a cruise. The Horizon is an older ship, and smaller than the new ones, but we found it to be a good size. You were close to all areas of the ship, but never felt crowded. We were on deck 4, outside cabin.
The only difficulty was on the last night. The ship travels about 5 hours up the Deleware River, and it seemed that the engines were always changing speeds. This was the only night we had any trouble sleeping. If you plan to stay in Philadelphia the night before, I would suggest the Best Western Independance Park. It is a refurbished 100-year old building that is close to all of the sights. Cab fare from the airport to either downtown or the cruise ship pier is a flat rate $20.
