This was our fourth Carnival Cruise. Previously we were on the Pride (last year), the Paradise (three years ago) and the Fantasy (several years ago). We have loved each one, but particularly the last three.
When we cruised on the Paradise, we were upgraded from an outside cabin to a cabin with a balcony. If possible, we won't cruise any other way. It adds so much to the experience to be able to hop outside any time of day or night - even in your PJs.
The food, service, and over-all experience was exceptional. The value was extraordinary - even though we didn't get a last minute "deal". We never tried the alternative restaurant because we had such wonderful meals and service in the regular dining room.
I was a bit worried about embarkation because we had left from Miami and Port Canaveral before, but not Fort Lauderdale. No big deal. And debarking for us was a piece of cake. As it turned out, we were about the 6th couple off the ship!
Liked the 8-days because it allowed us to see three islands, but also have four "days at sea" which maked the trip more relaxing.
We've thought from time to time that we might try another cruise line. But when Carnival is a sure thing, why take a chance?
