Cruise Entertainment Hits New Heights
Norwegian Cruise Line had reason to celebrate on Friday, November 11 when Blue Man Group performed their 500th show on board Norwegian Epic. The occasion was marked by a special cake made by the ship's Executive Chef Peter Haselsberger which was presented to the cast after their performance. The 35 members of the cast and crew also enjoyed an epic celebration that included a private after-party that was anything but blue.

Blue Man Group debuted for the first time at sea performing in the 685-seat Epic Theater in June 2010. The show continues to be a popular onboard favorite, playing eight performances, four nights a week. Blue Man Group is best known for its widely popular theatrical shows and concerts that combine music, comedy and multimedia theatrics to produce a totally unique form of entertainment.

Crystal Gets Regis Philbin

With last Friday marking Regis Philbin's last day on the popular daytime talk show, Live with Regis and Kelly, rumors are rampant about what he'll be doing next. Here's one we can verify: next March 13, he'll be heading to the Far East as a guest speaker aboard Crystal Cruises' Hong Kong to Osaka voyage of its World Cruise.

Regis Philbin is the Guinness World Record holder for "most hours on camera," after more than 50 years of hosting TV talk shows, game shows, and other entertainment. Crystal guests will have a rare opportunity to see and interact with Regis speaking about his life and career without the cameras during an audience Q&A. His wife, Joy, will accompany him on the sailing.

Philbin sailed as a celebrity guest speaker on Crystal more than 10 years ago, and, in more recent years, presented Crystal President Gregg Michel with Condé Nast Traveler's "Best Large-Ship" Readers' Choice Award.

"Given all the opportunities open to him, we're thrilled Mr. Philbin wanted to come back aboard for another star-treatment 'Crystal Experience'," says Crystal's Manager of Entertainment Chris Corrigall.

The Crystal Serenity cruise with Regis will overnight in Hong Kong before visiting Xiamen, Shanghai (overnight), and Dalian, then it will head inland to Beijing for a complimentary three-day inland adventure, followed by calls in Seoul/Incheon (overnight), Nagasaki, and Osaka (overnight).

Royal Caribbean

Royal Caribbean International celebrated the arrival of Voyager of the Seas into New Orleans with an exclusive performance by country music star Martina McBride. The four-time CMA award-winner treated guests to selections from her recently released album, Eleven, as well as some of her most popular hits.

Royal Caribbean is also transforming the 60-foot high Centrum found aboard its Vision-Class ships to offer what it is calling "vertical entertainment." Beginning with Splendour of the Seas renovation currently underway, the Centrum will reemerge as a new chic and sophisticated venue featuring enriching daytime activities, dazzling nightly entertainment and "jaw-dropping" aerial spectacles. "When we complete our extensive revitalization program, guests sailing aboard Splendour of the Seas will be in for a multi-sensory experience that puts them at close proximity to amazing aerial performers from multiple viewpoints in a sophisticated and glamorous atmosphere." said Lisa Bauer, senior vice president, Hotel Operations, Royal Caribbean International.

Bringing the Centrum's new entertainment offerings to life is the latest in sound and light technology. The glass elevators facing into the Centrum will feature large LED panels across their entire length providing a spectacular backdrop of moving visuals 5 decks high. During the entertainment experiences, which take place throughout the cruise, the soaring space will come alive with a series of aerial acrobatics vignettes "blurring the lines between artful choreography and state-of-the-art technology."
